Limonti School – Monduli District
Life tends to rule us, keep us so focused on our lives that we forget to take the blinkers off and look around us. Ron Febrey asked if I would go into the bush with him and visit Lemonti School, which he has been progressively involved in helping. It was an offer I could not refuse for two very selfish reasons rolled in one. I LOVE photographing and, I love spending time with children. They are so spontaneous, so natural and they are the WORLD’S FUTURE. So we headed off in the direction of Tarengire. We took a short cut and ended up surrounded by pure wilderness, no crowds, and no hassles. Modern existence went out the window, or so I thought! But out in East Africa’s bush is a new generation of youngsters that will carve Africa’s future. They need to be heard, they need education, they need encouragement… but without the steadfast commitment of members of the Lemonti local community and BIG HEARTS from further afield these youngsters have no future. 6 kilometres from Limonti School we came across 3 kids, proudly dressed in their bright blue uniforms, walking through dust under a harsh sun, without so much as a water bottle between them! Stopping, we reorganised the back of the Landrover so they could join us. The rest of the trip was a true enlightenment. Proudly, they revealed schoolbooks from their satchels and I entered into a world of exploration and wonder through the eyes of 3 little hitchhikers in the middle of the Tanzanian bush.
